Winamp, A Must-Have For Listeners To My Shows

To start with, you might want a good audio player that is free, plays all your mp3 files, and can play my shows without problems. You can create your own play lists, adjust the sound to fit your needs, and so much more!!! This even has support for some video files too! The program is called Winamp, and it rocks! Oh..And did I mention it's free? It will also provide you with the *least* difficulties for accessing my live shows!

Looking For A Podcasting Client For Downloading Archived Programming On This Site??

If you're interested in downloading my archived shows instead of just listening to them, you might want to download a podcasting client so that the shows will be automatically sent to your computer once they become available so you don't have to keep checking the podcast page to see if a new one is up. Of course, you can if you want, but some might prefer this alternative method, especially if you're subscribed to more than one podcast.
There are two podcasting clients I recommend. Pick the one that you think will work best for you.

This program is pretty easy to use and set up.
While this program is usable for those who are blind, some have expressed interest in an an alternative podcasting client called Accessible Podcatcher. If you'd prefer this client,

Broadcasting Tools

Do you wish you could be an internet DJ just like me and my friend William? If the answer is yes, check out some of these tools. They are all ad-ons for Winamp, so you'll need Winamp in order to use them.
The first is the Shoutcast source plugin made by shoutcast.com
This is the most widely used plugin of them all by those who love to broadcast on the internet. It seems to work well for most people. I've had some stability issues with it, but it's easy to set up and configure. So, if you'd like to check it out,
click here to download the Shoutcast source plugin
Once the program is installed, you'll want to check out the readme file for the plugin, which explains how to set up Winamp for broadcasting.
The next plugin that you may want, if the above one doesn't suit your needs, is the DSP Sam Encoders For Winamp. This plugin is my favorite broadcasting tool. It supports multiple streams, multiple broadcasting formats including mp3 and ogg, and is very easy to use and set up. The only downside to this plugin is that it is not free, but the demo lets you broadcast for several hours at a time before you must restart it. It is worth the money if you decide to purchase it. For more information on buying it,
click here to visit the Spacial Audio web site
If you have questions on setting it up, I'd be happy to help. In the mean time, if you want to try the plugin,
click here to download the DSP Encoders Plugin For Winamp
Sometimes, when using this plugin, the music can sound a little louder than it should. To fix this with any or all of your tunes,
click here to download Mp3Gain, a volume normalizer for your music
And if you want to be able to crossfade your tracks while broadcasting with Winamp,
click here to download the SQR Crossfader For Winamp
There's a readme file that comes with the plugin to help you get it set up.
If you are willing to put some money towards your broadcasting, there's a great program called StationPlaylist Studio, which allows you to play songs using a virtual cart system similar to what old radio stations used at one time. The built-in audio engine has support for crossfading of your tracks, overlapping your tunes, and more! It takes some setting up, but once it's done, it's a snap to use. You can contact me
if you'd like to know more about it. You can also
visit the StationPlaylist web site
to learn more about the program and to download a free demo copy of it. They also offer a product for broadcasting, so feel free to give it all a try.

Chatting Software

Interested in chatting with me during one of my live shows? You can do so through aol Instant Messenger or Windows Messenger. Both clients work well. To use aol instant messenger to chat with me during a show, you can download one of these two versions. Pick the one you feel most comfortable with.
click here to download AOL Instant Messenger 6.0
This is the latest version of Aim, although some people don't like it. If you'd prefer the older version, then
click here to download AOL Instant Messenger 5.9
If you'd prefer to talk to me using Windows Messenger, that's fine too. Simply
click here to download Windows Messenger
Or if you'd like an instant messenger client that can connect to both aim and msn at the same time,
click here to download the Miranda Instant Messenger
Those of you out there who use the Jaws For Windows screen reader will find these miranda jaws scripts helpful.

Interested In Running Your Own Internet Radio Station?

Are you interested in starting your own internet radio station? The Shoutcast server software can help you do that. It comes with a readme file and an "SCServ.ini" file, which is necessary for the station to work right. This file can be read in your text editor, and takes you step by step on how to set up the server. Any of the plugins mentioned above can be used with this server, but setting it up can be tricky. So, I'll help you if you need it. In the mean time, you can
click here to download the Shoutcast Server version 1.9
